Today was the day we could launch our canoes. Our teacher took us to Icelandic State Park to drop our canoes on the Tongue River. Once we got there our teacher told us to say goodbye. I say Goodbye my Spirit goodluck on your journey.
PLOP There I go watching my friend Charlie and other canoes flow on the river. As I flow on the Tongue River we head to the town of Cavalier. I see a fox squirrel and a raccoon. We made it to Cavalier and I heard cars driving. I hear people talking and CRASH I hear a canoe crash into a rock. It had a little crack but it was okay. We kept flowing down the river until we made it to the Pembina River. I saw so many animals and trees it was so beautiful. It was night barely and friends with me. I saw Acadias canoe Haidlynn Pariss canoe Sandy Hopes canoe Seashell Kaias canoe Coral Autumn's canoe Bailey Pyrrhas canoe Erikara they are all travelers . I also saw a very big tree a box elder. One hour later I was tired I wanted to fall asleep but I had to continue my journey.
WHOOSH I hear the crying wind I see the shining sun I see it glimmer in the quiet calm river. I also hear cars I think I made it to Pembina I flow through hearing cars drive stop and start. Then I see a wild turkey. Hello my friend are you on a long journey too It just stares at me as I pass by. Well goodbye my friend goodluck on your journey. Here I go continuing my long journey. I made it to the Red River finally. The winds are stronger here the river waves are more powerful than the other rivers. I see more trees animals and a wider river. Its night I hear screech owls hooting I hear crickets chirping. I see the shining moon Gods toenail. I can hardly see anything. Then I drift away through the night. Morning comes and I feel the suns rays shining on my wooden canoe. I also see a rock. Will I hit it will I break whatll happen I thought. Then all of a sudden I feel something on the bottom of my canoe. It was a big walleye I was getting closer to the rock when WHOOSH I feel a big push to the opposite side the rock wasnt at. Phew. I thought. That was a close one my friend thank you for guiding me. I say. The fish swims off. I finally made it to the border of the U.S and Canada. A few hours pass and I see Emerson Canada. It was dark so I couldnt really see or hear anything but owls and crickets. Hours pass and its sunrise time to continue my journey. I flow through the river and I see snapping turtles. More friends Goodmorning how are you I say. I havent really seen any friends lately. Well goodbye I have a long journey ahead of me.
Its been hours and I finally made it to Winnipeg Canada. Yes Im getting close to an end. It took a while getting out of the big city. It smelled like gasoline food and it also smelled like poop I made it out of Winnipeg and it was like smelling freedom. Whooee It smelled like a bunch of people taking a poo It was night. It was pretty quiet this time. I felt so lonely I havent seen a canoe since the Pembina River. Days hours and minutes passed and I made it to Lake Winnipeg. It was huge it was 1000000 times bigger than me. I hear lots of things around me. Suddenly I drift to sleep.
I awake and realize Im out of Lake Winnipeg and on the Nelson River Yesyesyesyes Im so much closer I keep flowing on the river until nighttime. Days pass until Im near Hudson Bay. I hear nothing. Its so quiet you could hear a penny drop. Hours go through the day until I reach Hudson Bay. The last few days have been very boring. Then I see an orangespotted sunfish. Finally another friend I also see woodland caribou black bears Canada geese lesser snow geese and a northern pintail. Once I got farther North I started to see polar bears. I also saw so many beautiful trees and plants. A black spruce saxifrage willow dwarf birch and cotton grasses.
Then finally I made it out of Hudson Bay. I flowed out into the longlasting ocean. I fulfilled my Charlies's dream I made it to the Arctic Ocean. I completed River of Dreams.
