My canoe's name is Pinky Pig. I have many hopes and dreams for my canoe once I launch it. I hope it will someday reach Baffin Island by the way of Hudson Bay. When I launch Pinky Pig from the Red River from Fargo I hope it will enjoy a peaceful ride with many new sights and experiences. I also hope that my canoe will have a safe journey across the world with sunny and warm days. Pinky pig is very special to me because it's so important for people to experience new sightings and canoes are helping us do just that. With the trackers that the Water Institution installed in the canoes we will be able to track where they are. It's such a cool experiment that we get to do and I'm so excited So here is my story. I will feel the gentle hands of my keeper releasing me into the Red River. I will be launched from the Red River in Fargo North Dakota in May of 2025 to Baffin Island which I will arrive in 2029. I will then start to feel the cold water rush up against me as I slowly start to glide down the River. I then come across East Grand Forks and make my way up to Marshall County. I continue to rush down the river starting to feel my groove when I feel something shift me in the water. I look down to find a walleye nudging its way in front of me. Its Golden and olive green color shines at my wood making me squint its scaly body scrapes me a little when it rubs up on me. I then watch it flick around and make its way in front of me swimming off into the distance. I saw many more fish later on my journey down the river such as bullheads and even salmon. I also will hear the flapping of a bird's wings above me and feathers sprinkling down into the river and even on me. I look up to see a hawk with big talons and a round beak. There will be fat pigeons nearby too struggling from their weight to fly. They start to move upstream like me then they slowly disappear getting farther away. I see many more animals in the past weeks such as Red foxes and even flying squirrels On my way down the River I'll also cross Kittson County close to the City of Emerson. Which leads me to the USA and Canadian border. I make my way up the river to Winnipeg and I will also tend to see wheat farms along the river. As I cross through Winnipeg I hope to come across Manigotagan City in Winnipeg. In Manigotagan there will be forests with beautiful Willow trees and American Elm. It seems like it's taking forever to get to Lake Winnipeg but 2 weeks later I finally arrive. When I get to Lake Winnipeg I know I'm halfway to my destination. I rush through the water when I see Wheat farms again and many animals such as Beavers with big buck teeth that make me chuckle. I also will see grizzly bears and wolves which made me shake in my boat. I was chilling down the river for a couple days when I passed through the Nelson river where I face my biggest challenge yet. Near the river where the forests are I start to hear a rustle in the trees wondering what it could be. All of a sudden a large figure starts to appear out of the bushes it then comes into full view. It's a Massive Moose I Try to shift my way over to the edge of the river to get closer to the Moose. It then bends down to the river to take a drink for its parched throat. While I'm trying to get closer I lose control of my steering and get caught up right in the moose's antlers The moose somehow didn't notice and started to rise up and strut forward. Everytime he stepped I could feel the earth shake from the moose's density. I try to think fast. How will I get out to make it back to the river I sat in the moose's antlers and pondered my thoughts until I saw out of the corner of my eye another animal. It is large like the moose too but does not have the same fur as it. I will try to glance a little harder when I hear a voice shout Caribou It comes from the opposite direction. I whipped my boat around to find an old man in a faded green fabric that was thick with different prints like camouflage. He then noticed the Massive Moose and slowly peeked its way over. As he gets closer to the moose and Caribou he will see me. By the time he had found us we had already been walking for almost two days He tries to grab me from the moose's antlers. I believe he will recognize the canoes and what I'm here for. He will then try to grab mebut the Moose shifts Then finally the moose is at the right angle and the old man shoots his arm out and grasps me with his cold fingers. He then quietly walks away from the Moose and Caribou still spellbound that he got so close to them. He will then find an empty spot where he will launch me back into the Nelson River I will speed down the Nelson for multiple hours until there's a big rush of water that pushes me forward and overwhelms me soaking me head to toe. When I dry off I will notice Im in Hudson Bay It is vast and cold while I flow in the Bay. I then will look up to see a big splash of water rise up from the ocean when the mist fades away I will see an Orca It is huge with its black and white pattern to make it stand out. The big splash of the Orca hits the water and blows me away. I will then open my eyes to find myself days later in Baffin Island my final destination After four long years of fun and struggles I finally made it.
