My canoes name is the S.S Remmi after my dog. I have so many dreams for my canoe once I launch it. I will release it by my school Oak Grove in the Red River in May 2025 where I hope it will meet its first fish a carp. It will travel on a little more then see farmers harvesting sugar beets. In June the S.S Remmi will see a young wood duck learning how to swim and a Canada goose learning to fly. Later on it will be a toy for a river otter. Then as it passes Trail County it will get rest in the shade of a birch tree for a week. After that it will sail through Grand Forks and go under the Kennedy Bridge and admire the gentle slopes of the great arches. Then it will pass by a family of catfish who will try to eat it shortly before it reaches Kittson County then travels on to the Canadian border. There I hope it will be spotted in Emerson and as it goes on will see a hawk with her eyases. At the start of Autumn I hope that it will pass by a magnificent ash tree then see an arctic fox catching a pike. There I hope it will be caught in the first winter freeze. At the start of spring it will see the first monarch coming to lay her eggs. Next it will take 3 weeks to travel across Lake Winnipeg where a rubythroated hummingbird will land on it to rest. Near the edges of Lake Winnipeg I hope it will see a wood frog emerging from its hibernation slowly thawing in the early springtime sun. Later it will see the small community of Norway House Canada while it travels on the Nelson River. After 2 weeks it will fight a powerful male polar bear who will be looking for fish to eat. It will narrowly miss a huge claw swinging at it Then I hope it will pass by a blooming aspen tree and one of the flower clusters droops down to brush the top of the canoe. By 2026 I hope it reaches the Hudson Bay where it will spot an otter devouring a sea urchin and an orca breaching in the cool waves. It will head southeast through the Hudson Straight and the Labrador Sea to reach the North Atlantic Ocean. There I hope it will be picked up by a blue whale and carried down near Ireland shortly before winter. Next it will float down to Spain and drift along with bottlenose dolphins. In late Summer it will drift to the Mediterranean Sea and then suddenly a huge basking shark will lunge out of the water and try to swallow my canoe. Thankfully it will escape then reach the dock of Italy at dawn the country of love.
