My canoes name is North. I have many hopes and dreams for my canoe once I launch it. I hope it will someday reach Madagascar by way of Hudson Bay. When I launch North into the Red River from Fargo ND in Cass County I hope it will enjoy a smooth twinkling calm ride on a bright sunny warm day in May of 2025. Hopefully it can travel along the muddy wooded banks of the Red River as it passes the Oak Grove football field. Along the way North will see many animals. As he passes through the town of Moorhead Minnesota he will see white tailed deer running alongside him. I hope he will see a walleye as he swims through the long windy road of the Red River. 4 weeks later I hope North reaches Grand Forks. I hope my canoe sees a robin on the way to Norman County after 8 weeks of being launched. Once he gets to Norman County I hope North gets picked up by a little girl playing by the River. I imagine her running with North to her parents wondering why this strange thing was floating in the river. Next I hope that the little girl puts North back into the river and says goodbye. As North floats back into the river I hope he will see lots of maple trees. Back on the road to Madagascar I imagine North floating past a field of corn and seeing squirrels and sugar beets. In the next fall I hope that North gets to Lake Winnipeg and sees a bald eagle flying through the sky trying to grab a fish out of the river but accidentally picks up North I hope that North flys through the air with excitement and suddenly gets dropped by the eagle into the Nelson River with a trout wiggling beside him. After winter I hope that North finally reaches Hudson Bay Along that long journey to Hudson Bay I hope that North saw all types of animals and crops like rabbits moose deer sturgeon wheat and so many others. I imagine North seeing pine trees and giggling with happiness But Norths adventure is not over yet As he drifts out of Hudson Bay and into Labrador Sea I hope that North glides past Newfoundland and goes into the Atlantic Ocean seeing lots of fish and sharks. I imagine North being played with by dolphins being tossed around as the dolphins giggle with joy. On his way towards Madagascar I imagine North floating past Spain and around Africa seeing snakes slithering past him on his long journey. After 6 long weeks of riding along the edge of Africa I hope that North curls around South Africa and into the Indian Ocean. As he floats across the Indian Ocean I hope that North finally sees Madagascar and practically leaps out of the water with joy By 2041 I imagine North being in Madagascar and planning for another long journey to anywhere his heart desires in this world. Wherever North ends up I know that he will have a long happy life before being eaten by a whale.
