My name is Titanic. I have many hopes and dreams. I hope I will someday reach Hudson Bay by way of The Red River. When I launch myself into the Red River from Fargo I will enjoy the sunshine and a smooth ride on a bright warm day in May of 2025. Hopefully I can travel along the muddy wooded banks of the Red River as it passes Oak Grove football field. I will go through moorhead and see carp jumping majestically across the surface of the water. I will pass Traill County and see wolves running through the woods that line the river. In Norman County I will see waterfowl leading their babies to their nest. In Polk County I will pass over sturgeon catfish and a northern pike swimming along the bottom of the river. I will pass maple and ash trees along the river before getting stuck in the roots of a big ash tree and the water pushing me under the surface. Then the roots will slash at my hull and gouge out a hole. I will start to fill up with water and sink a little more but I will keep on going. I will pass wavy fields of grain and wheat before eventually getting washed up on shore. Within six weeks I will get picked up by a big wave and get thrown back into the water. I will hit a rock and ricochet onto the bank of the river. It will take three days for a passing raccoon to push me back into the river. I will travel along the river until I get to the border of the US and Canada and see a bald eagle come down and pluck a fish out of the river in front of me. I will see partridges flutter up through the trees and fly away. I will enter Lake Winnipeg and see the mouth of the Nelson River in the distance. I will cross the lake and see another Bald Eagle swoop down and grab a fish out of the lake. I will get to the mouth of the Nelson River and start the trek through the river and to Hudson Bay. I will see a walrus and some otters in the bay. In the fall of 2031 My canoe would have reached Hudson Bay through the Red River.
