My name is Hope. I was launched in Crookston, Minnesota in the Red Lake River. When I was launched into the water it was very cold. When I landed I made a big splash! But after a little bit, I was starting to hit big waves, I really hoped it would stop soon! After a few hours the waves finally started to calm down. I was very relieved and I started to calm down. I now started to look around and enjoy the scenery. The tree leaves were green. I turned my head and saw a white tailed deer! I felt so lucky to see such a beautiful mammal! The sun was starting to go down and I was so excited to see the stars! Wow, the stars are so bright! I was so happy I stayed up to see the stars. Soon I started to drift off to sleep.
Day 2
But when I woke up I was stuck on a rock! I don't know how this happened. I thought I would be stuck here for weeks! I am kind of happy because I am seeing the fish wake up. AHhhhh. a fish just jumped right next to me. I could almost touch it! A couple hours after looking at the fish the current started to push me off the rocks. I was overjoyed. When the current pushed me, I saw a frog! It was just hopping along and it got ahead of me but it stopped and looked back and stared at me, but I don't know why? I was very confused why the frog was staring at me, but then I looked behind me and saw a huge Pig Nosed Turtle! It started to gently push me to the bank. I got stuck on the bank of the Red Lake River and I was also right next to Fisher. I started to see kids getting out of school. A little while later, a boy saw me and picked me up. He wondered what I was doing stuck on the bank of the Red Lake River and how I got there. Soon I discovered his name was Sam. He brought me to his dad that said ՉWell, where did you find her?Չ
ՉI found it on the bank,Չ said Sam Չ Well let's put it back were it was and let it go to East Grand ForksՉ said Sam's father. While they were talking I got bored so I fell asleep.
Day 3
When Sam threw me into the Red Lake River I was sleeping but woke up terrified to what was happening to me. I thought I was hitting massive rapids that would tip me over! But then I saw Sam and realized he was just throwing me back into the water. I was sad to leave Sam, but they knew it was for my best and I knew it was for the best too as I wanted to continue my journey to the Canadian Border. My next stop was East Grand Forks. I hope there wonՉt be many troubles ahead. As I was going down the Red Lake River I saw a beautiful fuzzy Lop rabbit. It was with its babies. I felt like I was going to pass out on how cute the rabbits were. I stayed quite, so I could see them longer, but soon they were out of my sight. I was sad because I absolutely love bunnies! But they need to hop away to find food. Well IՉm going to rest as it was a short day but good day.
Day 4
What a beautiful day the sun is shining the fish are jumping out of the water and I can ALMOST see East Grand Forks. But it is still going to take a while. I think I am going to sleep a little bit more as IՉm still really tired. The birds would not stop chirping so I did not get a great sleep. I hope I get to East Grand Forks soon, I want to see the people the buildings and the other animals there! Well I will just have to wait. AH There is a owl in the tree it's staring at me, I really don't like it. I hope it doesn't come near me! Its night and itՉs hunting time for the owls. What if it thinks I'm a mouse or an insect! I think it's a Horned Owl and they are scary. I pray and hope it doesn't come near me and grab me! Oh good I think it is flying away now maybe I can fall asleep...
Day Five
Its morning, and I can almost see East Grand Forks as it is around the corner!! The water has definitely gotten rougher, there is also a big turn up ahead so I hope I don't flip! Okay here we go, AHHH IՉm spinning out of control!! That turn was very fast I am very happy it stopped, but I am very very dizzy. Is that a hummingbird or am I imagining things? I'm just really dizzy I think I need to just close my eyes. ThatՉs much better, I'm not as dizzy.
Hey look there is a HUGE BLACK BEAR ALONG THE SHORE! Oh no, no, no I hope I donՉt get close it might think I am a big fish! The Black Bear is turning around I think he is turning around because he did not catch many fish.
Now, IՉm smell something delicious I think somebody is barbecuing. I hope they are cooking burgers, I want some. I also smell some hot dogs. My favorite! I really hope they throw one into the Red Lake River which probably won't happen but I can wish! I am going to go to sleep as the smell makes me kinda sleepy.
Day Six
When I woke up I was in East Grand Forks! I am almost to Grand Forks and that means I am going to merge into the Red River soon! There is a hummingbird, these are my most favorite birds in the world I love how small and cute they are, I also like their cute chirping! Grand Forks is getting closer, it is like right in front of me. This is like a dream come true I hope I'm not dreaming this!!
ՉHey look there's a small little canoe on the bankՉ said Tiffany a girl on the river bank.
ՉWow that's awesome let's grab itՉ! Okay, maybe we should show it to DadՉ said Jessica. Then the girls picked me up, I was happy to get off the river bank.
When Jessica showed me to her dad he said ՉYou need to put that canoe back into the water. So they threw me back into the Red River. When they threw me I was flipping and flipping but, I landed perfectly straight. I felt a big thump, I thought I hit a fish, then I thought I hit a turtle! I felt so bad! So I looked under me but it was just a rock. I was so relieved!! My heart stopped racing in fear.
Day Seven
Now I can started my journey to go to the Canadian Border that's my goal. First, I saw lights flashing in front of me and wondered what they were for? Then I heard very LOUD music and knew it was a concert! I will never get to sleep now. The very loud music was playing and all the birds were frightened and they all flew away. I did not get to see any animals because of the music, it made me frustrated and gave me a headache. After hours of the music, it finally stopped and I could get some sleep, I was very thankful.
Day Eight
Its took a whole winter season to get to the Canadian Border this is what happend. It was now starting to get very cold and snow started to fall and I couldnՉt see much. I started to hit ice. I was getting very scared. I wanted to sleep, but I was very cold. When I woke up, I was stuck on an iceberg right next to shore. I started to realize it was a blizzard! So I just huddled in my canoe and went to sleep. When I woke up, I was in a warm car, I was so thankful for whomever saved me. The person who saved me was a girl and her name was Carrie. When she took me to her cozy warm house Carry put me on a shelf with her dolls from which I think she got in her childhood. I was there for the whole winter waiting for spring and when it came Carry and her son,John threw me in the Red River. I felt so free! I felt the wind on my face, the sun was beating down on me, it was amazing. ItՉs spring. Now off I go to the Canadian Border the last place I want to be!
Day Nine
After twenty days, I saw the Canadian Border! I saw many birds mating with other birds in their nest . There was also geese mating with other geese. This was my favorite time of the year because all the animals come out! AH what is that it looks like an dam full of beavers! I really hope I don't hit their nest and disturb them because then they could come out and stop me from going on. Okay maybe if I just lean on this turn it will be okay. Here I go, oh no I hit the nest I need to go faster! Here comes out a beaver. I don't think the beaver can see me anymore as I am around the corner, that was close! The sun is starting to set it is very beautiful. I am going to go to sleep.
Day Ten
When I woke up I was stuck on a huge rock. Right in the middle of the river. After five hours of being stuck, a man finally picked me up while he was kayaking. He was picking up trash in the Red River. He had a bag full of trash. I was wondering were he came from. When he was done we went into his car. So off we went to his house. His house was huge it looked like a mansion. When we went inside there were a lot of animals. He had cats, dogs, birds. They were all very beautiful. He found me a spot on his shelf. When he finshed correcting papers we went back into his car and went to a school where he showed me off to everybody, the kids and other teachers. At the end of the day I was placed into a trophy case that was in the wall and thatՉs were I am today
