CarpՉ€™s Journey By: Tristan [DAY 1: 1:50PM] CarpՉ€™s journey to the Hudson Bay begins in the water of the Red Lake River in Crookston, Minnesota where it sets off in the refreshing water. I hope the water is refreshing because it might get really hot in the summer. The leaves were green as I floated in the river. I spotted a few birds in the sky on the way to Fisher, Minnesota. [DAY 12: 11:03AM] When I got to Fisher, I saw a fish in the water! I just now realized my name was of a fish. *I get excited* As I pass the fish I see a white-tailed deer. And some more deer come by. They spot me and I see their poofy tails fly in the air as they spot me and run away. I see a school of minnows swim by. Then I see the minnows get chased by a predator fish. [DAY 29: 3:36PM] In a couple of fascinating days, I arrive at East Grand Forks. I now turn off into the Red River from the Red Lake River. It is very hot on this summer day. I see the bridge in front of me. Some catfish are curious and are following me. As I pass under the enormous bridge more catfish start following me. Չ€œI THINK I SMELL MCDONALDՉ€™SՉ€ I say to myself. The smell of Mcdonalds makes me row faster. I am getting hungry now. I watch the catfish in awe as they swim around me. I think I see a catfish swimming up to me. Չ€œAww, how cu-Չ€ SPLASH! EEEEEEEEEE!!!! I scream like a toddler when a big monster catfish swallows me up. I am underwater in a flash! I try to hold my breath as I keep on screaming! SHPLOOF! The big fat catfish spits me out and I float back up to the surface. COUGH, COUGH, COUGH, SNEEZE! Չ€œFish slime!Չ€ I mutter. Now I become a little fearful of the minnows. But I know they won't eat me. I row away as fast as I can. [DAY 29: 10:50PM] It is dark out now and I am looking at the glimmering, shining stars. All the millions of stars are bursting into appearance and the Milky Way is coming to life. The light surrounds me as I float. I feel lucky getting to see this beauty. Although I donՉ€™t know if the catfish are stalking me I get to see the wonders of the night sky. I fall into a slumber. [DAY 30: 3:48] WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I jump an inch into the air! I get startled as the scary tornado siren goes off! I paddle swiftly as the tornado siren screeches across the air. I hope the siren scared away any ferocious, hungry catfish! I thought this was a test, but I was wrongՉ€» BOOM, CRASH!! I realized this was not a test! The wind picks up as I paddle. When a flash of lightning becomes visible I can make out a sort of supercell shape and.. What seems to be a massive wedge tornado!! I try to paddle in this monstrous wind. Suddenly!...... The wind carries me away! Fortunately, I landed in a tree above the river. I wait out the storm. [DAY 32: 12:05AM] Seagulls pick at me in curiosity as I wake up. The storm is gone and now I am relieved. I am still stuck in the tree though. A seagull knocks me down! AAAAAAAAAHH! SHPLOP! BELLYFLOP! OUCH! [DAY 86: 9:51AM] I am nearing the United States/Canadian border. I see a moose drinking some water. It watches me as I pass by. I smell the smell of lake and river water. As I am getting closer to the border I see city lights, I start to smell restaurant food. I am about to cross the border in 3, 2, 1, I am now in Canadian territory! [DAY 86: 11:30AM] People are following me! TheyՉ€™re in canoes too! TheyՉ€™re getting closer to me. EEEEE! He picked me up!! He said Չ€œhelloՉ€ to me too! He seems friendly. I need to give him a name. HmmmmՉ€» IՉ€™ll call him Gerald and the lady behind him, I will call her Sandy. I get a ride in their canoe. Something made a sound on a thing called a Canon. ItՉ€™s a camera! Gerald took a picture of me, Sandy then picks me up and looks at me. While Sandy looks at me, I see Gerald catch a river trout. He puts the fish back in the water. Sandy says they will follow me on my journey. They put a solar wafer, a microchip GPS and miniature camera to track me. I like the scientific feeling. They also put this waterproof stuff on me. [DAY 90: 4:27PM] My GPS beeped a few times. I wonder if they are looking at where I am? [DAY 90: 5:02PM] Yep, they found me. Sandy and Gerald scooped me up with a fishing net and picked me up. Չ€œHelloww, Carp!Չ€ Gerald hooted. They probably know my name because of the drawings on the canoe. They checked my gear and did something with the mini camera. They put a green thing in the camera. They took another picture with the Canon and plopped me back down in the water. They followed me for an hour or two and then paddled away. Չ€œBye Carpy CarpՉ€ Sandy shouted. [DAY 91: 1:23AM] The Milky Way is out tonight. Some storms are in the distance and they make the scene beautiful. I hear the rumble and tremble of the thunder. All the wonders of the night sky come out. The storm passes by. [DAY 100: 11:40AM] I am at Winnipeg and getting closer to Lake Winnipeg. I see a hockey arena and hear a lot of noise. As I pass the arena, some little fish are checking me out. They look like little minnows. I am waiting for Sandy and Gerald as they might just be coming to me now. [DAY 100: 3:05PM] Sandy and Gerald fish me out of the water again and look at me, as always they take a picture and check my equipment. Then! Չ€œThe rivers will freeze soon, so you will stay with us for the winter.Չ€ Gerald told me. [DAY 101: 2:00PM] I get to meet a cat named Kasari and a dog named Buddy who slobbered all over me. Kasari curiously checks me out. Չ€œSo fuzzy, the cute face, SOO CUUTTE!!Չ€ I shout. As Kasari lays on me to spread the scent I feel all that fuzz in my face. Then Buddy scares the cat and picks me up. Չ€œDOG SLOBBER!Չ€ I say. Buddy puts me down and snuffles, sniffs and snoots around me. Sandy picks me up and puts me in a comfy carton for the winter. [DAY 102: 2:38AM] I wake up suddenly in BuddyՉ€™s bed with more dog slobber on me. It looks like Buddy got into the carton and took me out. Kasari cuddles me as she licks her paws. Gerald wakes up and puts me back in the carton. I take the long snooze. [DAY 191: 12:09PM] I wake up after my Չ€œhibernationՉ€ in GeraldՉ€™s car. it is a beautiful day and the snow and ice is gone. Gerald is driving to the Nelson River. Sandy drops me off into the Nelson River. Չ€œBye Carp, CarpՉ€ they shout. As I paddle I see the green grass and the majestic willow trees. I see white-tailed deer in a group far away. I hear the croaking of frogs. I smell river too. [DAY 199: 2:45PM] I see the Hudson Bay!!! Although it is miles and miles away. Sandy and Gerald are riding their canoes there too. Seagulls are flying, some polar bears are around. A little bit of snow is around too. A rainbow shows in the distance. What a beautiful sight! Sandy and Gerald are taking pictures with the Canon. [DAY 200: 3:11PM] WeՉ€» MADE IT TO THE HUDSON BAY!! Sandy and Gerald are taking pictures like crazy now! It must be on the news by now! It smells like accomplishment. There are deer, seagulls, minnows, catfish AND MOOSE! The rainbow gets more visible. Buddy comes running out of GeraldՉ€™s car. Everyone celebrates! I see some more canoes coming too! After the Չ€œbig partyՉ€ I got a long ride back to Sandy and GeraldՉ€™s house. [DAY 201: 4:33PM] We get to their house and I got to see Kasari again! AndՉ€» ITՉ€™S HIM!!!!!!!! The person who originally launched me: Tristan!!
