NicholasՉ€™s Journey - Nicholas, my canoe launched in the Red Lake River at Central Park in Crookston, Minnesota. There were a lot of twists and turns in the river. It took him twenty days to get from Crookston to Fisher, Minnesota. A kid named Ben picked him up. Ben was at the river in Fisher because he was taking a walk in the fresh air as he was going on a five hour car ride to Lake Winnipeg. Nicholas was floating in the water when Ben found him and decided to take him with him on his trip. The reason Ben was going to Lake Winnipeg was because he was having a family reunion. In the car ride Nicholas saw a flock of geese flying south, He smelled chicken sandwiches from the familyՉ€™s dinner. Ben gave Nicholas some thing to eat, he tasted sweet blueberries and salty cilantro. He heard country music from the radio. He felt Ben's soft cotton clothing because Nicholas was in Ben's lap. He felt like he was loved when he was with Ben's family because they cared for him. When they arrived Ben was so excited to put Nicholas back in the water. Ben said his farewells and set Nicholas in Lake Winnipeg. Nicholas had a great time on Lake Winnipeg. It took him twenty days to get across Lake Winnipeg! Then Nicholas got into the Nelson River and there were so many twist and turns that it took him fifty days to get across the river. It was now August 15. Nicholas finally made it to Hudson Bay. He was so excited that he accidentally flipped himself over, but managed to flip himself back over. Nicholas thought the Hudson Bay would be relaxing but actually he got stuck . WOW! It had been a long day, so Nicholas decided to go to sleep. It was really windy that night. Nicholas got cold several times during the night. When Nicholas woke up he saw that he was almost to the Hudson Strait. Thirty minutes later he had made it to the Hudson Strait! YAY!!!! He was about halfway through the Hudson Strait when he got stuck in another iceberg. (that is a lot of icebergs ). He saw two people adventuring so he yelled for them. It took him five minutes to get their attention. He thought he would be stuck there forever, but luckily a very kind man named Bob took him out of the . Bob showed him to the others and a girl named Cora said to Bob you should put him back in the water. Չ€œOkayՉ€ said Bob so they put Nicholas back into the water together. Then Nicholas floated away in the water and he was almost to the Labrador sea he could almost see the sign that says Labrador Sea. Fifteen minutes later He had made it to the Labrador Sea. :) The Labrador seas area is three hundred twenty-four thousand,seven hundred twelve square square miles WOW. Nicholas tried not to think about how big that is. By the end of the month Nicholas had made it to the Atlantic Ocean he saw deer, coyotes, turkeys, otters, beavers and mice. It took him two years to get across the Atlantic Ocean. Wow He had made his goal he made it to France and it was a success but he will never forget the adventures he had.
