My Travels to the Sea
My fleet and I rushing down the Sandhill River
I wonder what we will see
Deer, fish, moose, people, another canoe
Will my friends and I make it to Grand Forks
Or will my friends and I make it to Lake Winnipeg?
I hope I will make it to Hudson Bay and to the sea.
I hope to feel something new on my way
The group of scaly fish touching the bottom of me
The beaverՉs thick furry coat that is as soft
As hundreds of fluffy clouds together
The feeling of a boyՉs warm skin in the summer.
I wish to hear the wolf cry
The wolfՉs cry is as loud and long as a shipՉs horn
I see the wolf on the cliff
Its thick, black fur that hides him in the dark
I love to smell the fresh smelling spring air
So much sweeter than the cold air.
Splash! The water moves restlessly in the river.
The baby deer with their mom
The flowers blooming and the bees getting honey
I would love to taste the fresh sea water
I want to see what lies on the Atlantic Ocean
The ships, the sharks, and the fish
I hope, I wish, I wonder if I will make it to the sea
My friends and me
Are paddle to the sea.
