My canoe will make it all the way to the Hudson Bay. I hope it sees lots of different animals and meets lots of new people. Along the way, my canoeՉs journey will be AWESOME!
My canoeՉs name is Matilda. Matilda was made by an old lady who carved it from an apple tree in her yard. She made it for the little girl who lived across the street from her. The little girl painted the canoe with lots of flowers because she loves flowers. The little girl named her canoe Matilda after her favorite book by Roald Dahl- Matilda.
The little girl lived in Crookston, MN which is right next to the Red Lake River. She asked her dad if she could release it into the river and he said yes. They released Matilda one fine May morning when the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. They watched until Matilda was no longer in site and hoped that people would tell of MatildaՉs journey along the way.
Matilda had a great journey; she saw lots of fish and even met a couple of beavers along the way. She met a captain of a great ship and also got to be a guest at a campfire of boyscouts one night. Everyone she met took such great care of her and released her back into the river so she could continue her journey.
Finally a year later she made her journey all the way to the Hudson Bay. A little boy found her and gave her a fresh coat of paint and kept her on a shelf in his bedroom. One day, his cousin came to visit and she saw the canoe and shouted ՉMatildaՉ!! The End
