RiverՉ€™s Journey Canoe number: 19RD0763 This is the story about Me, River. I was launched in Central Park in Crookston, Minnesota on the Red Lake River on Thursday, May 23, 2019 and thatՉ€™s when I started my journey. I was so excited I hoped to make it all the way to Hudson Bay. I wanted to meet many animals on the way but so far IՉ€™d only met fish, but I looked forward to meeting wolves, deer and much more. After more than a month, I had finally made it to Fisher, Minnesota. I was surprised because I met so many animals like beavers, turkeys, eagles, almost every animal in Minnesota including frogs and snakes which I am terrified of. The river was wavy, curvy and sometimes even cold. About two days later, I got stuck in the mud for two weeks. How I got out is an interesting and scary story. An Eagle landed on me and started to peck on me but apparently I didn't taste good so he pushed me into the water again. It took longer to get to East Grand Forks, Minnesota, about two months because of all the waves and curves. Thankfully, I got stuck because I was just about to hit the scary part (the confluence In East Grand Forks, Minnesota) when suddenly someone saw me and picked me up. Then they released me. I was not ready for what was up ahead. I was sooo scared because the water was shaky and wavy and then the water hit me and I tossed and turned. I screamed AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! After about a week, the river calmed down and I was in Grand Forks, North Dakota. There I met lots more animals. I saw deer, moose, beavers, and bear. I was tired so I took a nap and then I was awakened by a loud sound. It turns out it was a storm passing through. I was shaken and terrified with thunder, lightning, rain, sleet, and hail. The river turned into rapids and the water was horrible. I ended up getting stuck on the riverside for weeks when finally a kid picked me up and thought I was a toy. He showed me to his parents and they put me back into the water. The little boy cried, but thankfully I was back on my journey. I had to keep going as I was determined to make it to the Hudson Bay. It took another ten weeks to get to Pembina, North Dakota and then I was soon on the border of North Dakota and Canada. There was lots of animals again like bears, wolves, even elk and pronghorn. I am proud to say I met a friend on the way to Winnipeg, Canada. It was a butterfly. He made the trip go a lot faster. About a month later, I emerged into the Nelson River and was almost to Hudson Bay. The days seemed to be getting shorter and the trip longer, I was just excited to get to the Hudson Bay. I met lots more animals like, a racoon, river otters, minks, fox, mountain lions and much more. I was almost to Hudson Bay when I got stuck. I was so disappointed, but then a hawk swooped down and grabbed me. He was scared of me and dropped me back into the water. I was overjoyed by the feeling of getting back into water to continue my journey to Hudson Bay, as I was almost there. A year later, from my launching date, I finally made it to the Hudson Bay. I had an incredible feeling of making it. Now I was finally here! I was sooo excited, I could not explain how happy I was, but then something happened a polar bear pulled me out of the water and left me on shore. There I ended my journey. I was so sad, but at least I made it to the Hudson Bay and that was my dream. I am so proud of myself for my great adventure.
