Hi my name is Betty, I was launched May 23, 2019 in Crookston, MN on the Red Lake River.
I was standing proud and brave, I felt like this was my moment to shine! When I went into the water I was scared. But I got over it.
Ten days later, I was in Fisher, MN. I heard screamingՉ».then a small hand was reaching out. I saw the smallest, littlest and cutest face ever! I realized it was a baby! Someone taller than the baby, picked me up and said Չ Looks like there is writing on the top. I think this canoe has a dream. Sorry Lily, but we have to put the boat back in the waterՉ
Then I was back in the water again. I saw a big sign that said ՉEast Grand Forks, MN.Չ I saw something under my boatՉ» suddenly a big WOOSH! Then as soon as you know, I was under water. I saw something with big eyes! It was...a fish?, with its mother. They followed me for about a minute. Then they disappeared as I was turned back over, right side up again.
Suddenly, waves from left and right came splashing at me! The big waves made me turn on my side. Every Time I got back up... I was pushed back down by the waves. The waves felt like rocks was hitting me. Finally, the nightmare was over!
After like two days, I was at Grand Forks, ND. I got stuck in a net. I saw a baby deer crying as It looked like it lost its mother. But, of course I was stuck in a net and I couldnՉt move or talk. Then I saw an adult deer came up to the crying baby deer. I realized it was the Dad. The baby deer stop crying.
Six days passed. I was finally released from the net with a wave. I was on my to way to Pembina. A few weeks later, I passed Pembina. I was happy that nothing bad happened to me.
Next think I knew I was at border to get to Canada. A rock in the middle of the river stopped me. I sat the same spot for two days then I was picked up by someone, a man. The man saw my code and said he wanted to look up the website that was typed on the top of me. He then put me in something called a ՉCarՉ. The man was still holding on to me. When we reached what I think was his home, he searched up the website. He looked at my code again then put the number in his computer. He realized that I had a destination. He then put me up by the door and took a picture. He sat back down on his chair and started to repaint me. I looked like I was brand new. He took me outside and sat on a rock.
About 20 minutes later, he slowly walked to the water and let go of me.
Twenty-one days later, I was heading up north again. It started to get colder. Then I got stuck by an ice chunk. I sat there for an hour and saw a polar bear with its mother. I finally got use to the cold. Now thatՉs my life in Hudson Bay.
