After two treacherous years, I have finally made it to the Hudson Bay. Who knows where I will go now or the things I will see, but I have already gotten this far, and I canՉt wait to go farther. You probably are wondering who I am and want to know my story, I will tell you. I am Baldric and I am a canoe. My story begins in Grand Forks, ND two years ago. It was spring and I had just received a fresh paint of coat right before I was dropped into the icy water of the Red River. As I began my journey up north, I ran into quite a bit of ice and logs on the way. I wasnՉt the only one who kept running into logs as it seemed that there was quite a few creatures in the water that liked to create homes out of them. I had just reached Lake Winnipeg when one of the brown, four legged, log collectors picked me up. The water started to go by a lot faster and I could feel the deathly grip of the creatures teeth on my not so fresh coat of paint. Before I knew it I was tossed into a pile and surrounded by tons of logs. As I sat there the seasons came as fast as they went, the colors of the leaves started changing, snow started to fall, the snow eventually melted. I wondered if I would ever break loose from the logs surrounding me, trapping me, but one day in spring two kayakers noticed that I wasnՉt a log and decided to investigate. They plucked me out of the logs and decided to help me get to my destination. They paddled me through about a third of Lake Winnipeg then set me down back into the water and I was once again, ready to continue my journey. I saw tons of fish when I was traveling in Lake Winnipeg, there was Whitefish, Perch, Sturgeon and so much more. When I was nearing the end of my journey in Lake Winnipeg there was ice everywhere and I had to navigate through it like an enormous cargo ship. The Nelson River was an easy trip compared to Lake Winnipeg. A polar bear was standing on the shoreline at the end of the Nelson River and then I realized I had finally reached my destination, the Hudson Bay. Which brings me to where I started. Who knows where I will go or the things I will see, but I have already gotten to the Hudson Bay, and I canՉt wait to see how far I go.
