One day, in the early spring, a fourth grade class was at the Fisher Bridge throwing colored canoes they painted into the Red River. Rivier, a little canoe painted with feathers, waves, and clouds, was still in the hands of the blond haired girl who decorated him. Then the girl gripped Rivier and first it seemed like Rivier was flying, then down, down, down SPLASH right into the whipping river.
Rivier was still far behind the rest of the canoes, when out of nowhere came a giant log. The blond haired girl was yelling, ՉDodge it, dodge it!Չ PLONK, Rivier hit the log and under the water he went. Plop, Rivier was back up and everyone was cheering for Rivier.
Soon Rivier was far down the river sailing smoothly. He could spot jumping fish and deer running in the forest. BOOM, BOOM! Five men in camo were seen lurking through the trees. ՉAww man, I missed,Չ yelled one of the men and looked over to Rivier. ՉWhat is that?Չ said the same man. All five men shot at Rivier. Thankfully the wind picked up and sailed him away.
Sailing was fair, but the clouds were getting dark and a tornado was forming. Soon trees in the forest were almost touching the ground and the tornado was much closer. The waves were going crazy and Rivier was bobbing up and down in the waves, then everything went dark.
Rivier was now stuck but something furry and wet with a leathery tail, a beaver, came up to Rivier and started to tug on Rivier with its teeth. Then Rivier became free but the beaverՉs dam was caving in. The beaver began to swim away and the logs drifted away with the current, but Rivier stayed because he was beached.
The next day a man, a girl, and a boy were fishing on the sandbar that Rivier was stuck on. The girl pointed at Rivier, and said, ՉHey, look what I found.Չ The man walked over to Rivier and picked him up. The boy read the label on Rivier out loud.Չ if you found this canoe please put it back in the Red River of The NorthՉ so the man took a selfie with Rivier and sent the picture to his family then put Rivier in the river.
A few days later Rivier was sailing past a big water tower surrounded by houses and buildings. Fishermen in boats turned to look at Rivier as he gently sailed along. Rivier read the bold words on the water tower and they said East Grand Forks. The town seemed noisy with all the traffic. Soon there was a big bridge with cars passing over..
And then a fire truck, ambulance, and the cops came speeding over.Չ Woo, woo, beedoo, beedoo! Rivier rushed along the river to see what was going on. The air soon became polluted with smoke. A house was on fire! The fire truck, ambulance, and cops were there. The fire truck quickly got to action and put the fire out. And to think Rivier saw it all.
It was fall. The air was getting colder and so was the river. Rivier saw all types of animals: deer drinking from the river, fish jumping, and bears hunting. Then the waves started to splash and pushed Rivier to shore. As he reached sand a big Australian shepherd jumped out of the brush and grabbed Rivier in its mouth.
ՉCome back, Cassie.Չ A girl came running from the trees and grabbed Rivier.Չ LetՉs take this to Dad.Չ The girl took Rivier and Cassie through the woods on a path. Once they got out of the woods a tall mansion was standing on a hill with a limo garage and a horse stable. They went in the mansion. There was a long hall and from the looks of it, it was a very old mansion. The girl took Rivier into a room where there was a man and women having some sort of meeting. The man said not to interrupt to the girl. The girl ran upstairs, down a hall, and into a very pink room fiiled with horses and dolls. She took Rivier to her desk and started to study Rivier.
The next day the girl woke up and grabbed Rivier and ran downstairs. Her parents were eating breakfast and said good morning . The girl hurried over to her parents and gave them hugs then showed them Rivier.
You found this in the river?Չ the women said . ՉLook what it says.Չ The man read the writing on Rivier. The man said, Չ you should release it next spring.Չ
So the days passed and it was spring before you could chop down a tree, and the rich family knew it was time to let Rivier go. Rivier needed to get to Winnipeg so they got in there limo and drove Rivier to Winnipeg. When they got there, they went to a shop and got RivierՉs photo taken and then to the river. They put Rivier in the water, said goodbye, and Rivier was off again.
Rivier passed by trees like before. When Rivier grew bored, heՉd wonder where he would end up. RivierՉs favorite place to think about was Africa. He would wonder all about the animals and sights. At last Rivier was at Hudson Bay. Boom, Boom! Rivier was passing through Indian territory. There were teepees, drums, and horses. It was an amazing experience.
At last the sea was coming closer. People stood on the sides of the river cheering Rivier on. Woo, hoo! Rivier made it, but oh, no! Something big was coming. Look out, Rivier! ItՉs a whale! Gulp! The whale ate Rivier with a bunch of water so up, up, up plunk! Rivier was stuck in the whaleՉs blowhole.
So that was the end of Rivier Չ» and the whale.
