Once upon a time a group of 4th graders colored canoes and then once it got nice out they would release the canoes. Hi. My name is Ann. IՉ€™m supposed to be let into the river, but my owner Bridget Volker wants to show her parents before she releases me into the river. The only thing I don't like about that is because I have to be introduced to her parents. Finally. the teacher said that we can't show our parents, but we will take a picture of all of them so then I feel a little bit better about myself. So finally she released me into the river. I felt like I was getting pushed off a waterfall. Once I touched the water I was fine. I was so excited to go see the forests and animals while I was floating in the river I saw a fish trying to bite another canoe and eat it, but the canoe got away and kept floating away just like I was. I heard birds chirping above me. I was dancing while the birds were singing. I had almost gotten to Grand Forks on my way there. Beavers were cutting down trees and one almost landed on me. I started going faster and faster and then I saw a huge moose was heading over into a cabin. I tried to stop him, but then he stopped and started going over to the deer and the deer ran away. The man came out of the cabin. He looked in the river, and saw me floating and he picked me up and read what it said on me. it said he was supposed to put me back in the river. Before he put me back in the river he brought me into the cabin and showed his wife and kids, and one of the kids had said that we should keep him. We can't. We have to put it back in the water the man had said. So he put me back in the river. Then I was in Grand Forks. A lot seemed to go on in Grand Forks like people were canoeing in the river and there were so many fish. I kept bumping up and down, up and down. All of a sudden I saw a girl riding a bike with her dog. She had stopped because her dog was barking at me for some odd reason. She picked me up and read what it said inside me she was excited that she had found a canoe so she went to go tell her friends. They had said that she should go tell the news reporterՉ€» So she did and they had said that they would get it on the news today. She was so excited to be on the news for the first time. After the news she brought me back to where I was floating. I was happy to be back in the river, but it still felt weird floating. I think it's been around a year being here floating around and getting to know different people, but having an awesome time. Off I went to Winnipeg, Canada. A beaver was trying to chase me, but I got away. I went past a lot of logs and so I got a crack on me. It was really bad. All a sudden I saw a huge ship, and I was going towards the engine. Luckily, the person heard a big crash go in the engine which was me. He tried to get me out. Then he pulled at the engine and stopped the ship as quickly as he could. I got out safely. He read what it said inside me just like all the other people did to me, but what he did was keep me for 2 hours on the ship for some odd reason. Once he showed all of his workers on the ship, we had almost got to land. It had lots of cool and big mountains. We got in the car and drove to the airport, and got on a plane to Churchill, Canada. When we got there, we went straight to the river so he could throw me into the river and he said, Goodby beautiful canoe and have a great journey.Չ€ Off I was to a place I wanted to really go to which was Germany, but I wasn't sure if I was going there. All of a sudden I felt like I was in the middle of Hudson Bay so I'm not sure if I'm going to get to Germany yet. I was going through a current at first, but I forgot that currents go really, really fast. I was going so fast I couldn't control myself. All of a sudden I appeared in a weird place. I think it is Prince Charles Island. An Indian picked me up and took me away into his house. There were a lot of different Indians in the house. I didn't know what to do. He showed his friends what I looked like. He brought me to his shelf and put me there, and guess what I saw? I saw other canoes right by me. They were the canoes that BridgetՉ€™s class had made 2 years ago. I sat there for a long time. I think maybe it was even 2 more years. I thought about Germany. I was sad I never got to go there. Maybe next time I said to myself.
