Paddle To The Sea
I start on my journey,
Down the Sandhill River,
When I make it through Beltrami
I know I might make it to the Red River.
The wind blows,
I see the trees,
I make it through Beltrami
As I see a deer after me.
I reach the Red River,
But before I can get further
I am scooped up and
Propelled into the water.
I see the water rushing,
Like a torrid path,
The moon shines in the starless night,
Like the sun in a cloudless sky,
The moon is setting now,
As the sun rises high,
I see a bird fly past me
Like a leaf traveling past.
I hear and smell and feel,
And see,
All the seasons
Are changing around me.
When I wake up itՉs fall
And I know IՉm not
In America anymore,
Actually Canada I think.
I get stuck in a beaver dam
But I get picked up by the beaver,
It thinks I am useless and
I am sent back to the water,
I make it to Lake Winnipeg.
I spot a polar bear cub and it chases me!
It quits as I realize whatՉs before me.
It looks like a large storm and it was.
The storm tossed and turned me
Waves crashing up,
I am in Hudson Bay and smell the fresh salty air,
When I wake up it is winter
As I am wedged near the shore,
When the ice has melted I reach the Atlantic.
My journey has been thrilling,
Thanks for coming along with me.
