I have many hopes and dreams for my canoe. My canoeՉs journey will be long, but as pretty as a picture. My canoeՉs name is PeliCanoe. ItՉs nickname is Peli. I hope PeliCanoe will make it to at least Lake Winnipeg. If it makes it farther I hope it makes it to Hudson Bay. When I launch my canoe in the Red River on the last week of school in May of 2021 it will be a sunny and beautiful day. I will launch my canoe in Fargo, North Dakota. I will kayak alongside it for some time and then wave goodbye and wish it good luck on its journey to Lake Winnipeg. My canoeՉs journey to Lake Winnipeg will last until November of 2021 and then it will get stuck in the ice and snow along the banks of the Red River. Once I launch Peli it will start its journey to Grand Forks County and it will float with the fish swimming in the Red River. On the way up to the forks area, there will be many different types of animals. One of the animals PeliCanoe will see hopping along the banks of the river will be a bunny. Other animals Peli will discover are turkeys, white-tailed deer, and squirrels. One of the first crops that my canoe will go by might be spring wheat crops or sugar beets. Once Peli makes it to the forks area it will see many fish in the river such as smallmouth bass, walleye, lake sturgeon, and northern pike. As Peli drifts downstream it passes a smallmouth bass and floats with it until the smallmouth bass swims into the Red Lake River. As my canoe gets to the last few miles of Grand Forks and going into Walsh county it will see woodpeckers pecking on Oak trees and Maple trees. As PeliCanoe starts its way up to Lake Winnipeg, it will see some of the same animals and some new ones. Its journey will be fairly similar. It will see some of the same animals, but it will see some new wildlife as it floats up to Canada. Some new fish that my canoe will see are bass, crayfish, and channel catfish. New animals that PeliCanoe will pass might be beavers, bald eagles, ducks, frogs, snapping turtles, and even western painted turtles. Once my canoe is to the border of Canada it is starting to get chillier. Almost two more months pass and the Red River is starting to freeze. My canoe is now in the city Winkler. A little girl, her older brother, and her mom are walking along the river in their winter coats. The little girl spots PeliCanoe sitting on the banks of the river, she begs her mom to fetch Peli. Her mom grabs Peli out of the river and hands it to the little girl, ՉHere you go Saidie!Չ The woman said. ՉThank you, mom,Չ Saidie remarked. PeliCanoe will stay safe with SaidieՉs family for the winter. During the winter PeliCanoe will see pine trees, snow, and icicles dripping down the gutters of SadieՉs house. The next spring they will let Peli go to continue its journey to Lake Winnipeg and then up to Hudson Bay. When my canoe is launched by SadieՉs family PeliCanoe will float in the warm spring breeze up to Winnipeg. Once PeliCanoe is in Winnipeg it will see many blue jays searching for worms for their newly born babies. One day PeliCanoe gets stuck on the banks of the river, and it sees a skunk along the river. The skunk walks up to it and as it gets closer the skunk starts to examine PeliCanoe, the skunk turns around and sprays at Pelli. Ewww! The next day a pigeon perches on PeliCanoe and sets him free. PeliCanoe, still smelling gross, dunks himself in the river water letting the pigeon fly away and gets all cleaned up. A few weeks pass and PeliCanoe is in Lake Winnipeg. Peli starts its way up to the other side of Lake Winnipeg going along the side of the lake. Now it is July and Peli is two-thirds away from the end of Lake Winnipeg as he sees a pontoon boat coming toward him. PeliCanoe tries to get out of the way but he is too late. The pontoon goes right over PeliCanoe but luckily he was far enough over that the motor did not slice him in half. Two weeks later and PeliCanoe is out of Lake Winnipeg and now in the Nelson River. As PeliCanoe continues its journey up to Hudson Bay I hope it will see many new species and wildlife. I hope it will make it to Hudson Bay and see whales, polar bears, and swans. I have many hopes and dreams for PeliCanoe but I hope Peli will have a ravishing journey. I hope PeliCanoe will be remembered by the 12-year-old 6th grader that launched him.
