I am paddle to the sea I start my journey in the Sand Hill River It is late spring and the river is flowing I smell a pink lady slipper I see a buck in the woods I see a duck darting through the air like a shooting star I have reached Beltrami, it is early summer I touch a smooth rock I see a railroad track I hear a train whistle The flowers smell like sweet strawberries I see a doe with its fawn I have made it to Climax and in the Red River, it is midsummer now I see a bear with its cub I hear the wind, a wolf howling at night PLOP! A bird has landed on me I think it's a blackbird I see a wolf running through the woods like trees blowing in the wind I have made it to East Grand Forks, it is late summer I see a grandma with 100 cats I smell car fumes The leaves are starting to change color And the water is slowly getting colder Fall is soon to come I have made it to Grand Forks, it is now early fall The leaves are getting colorful like a rainbow in the sky The air is getting cooler I see a coyote The juicy apples smell like gummy bears The water is getting cold I hear the trees blowing I see a squirrel running like the wind I feel the fish under me It is the middle of fall now The deer are shedding their antlers SPLASH! An eagle just dove into the water to get a fish I have made it to Lake Winnipeg Brrr!! The water feels frigid The leaves are turning colors from red to yellow to orange I see a large rock I feel a current in the lake The water is smooth like a sheet of ice I canՉ€™t wait to get to Hudson Bay IՉ€™m going on the Nelson River The current is strong WOW! A fish just splashed me The water is ice cold The water is getting salty I have made it to Hudson Bay I am paddle to the sea
