I start my journey in the Sand Hill River at late spring
I feel the cold water under me
I see a doe drinking from the river
I see a bird fly above me like a dart shooting through the air
I reach Beltrami in early summer
The river is straighter now and the waterՉs warm
I see a blue glistening fish jumping from the water beside me
I smell the flowerՉs sweet odor
I feel the smooth rocks under me
I reach Climax in early summer
I see wolves running south through the woods like skipping rocks on the water
I see patches of colorful flowers
I smell smoke coming from the forests
I see fire burning like poison ivy growing
I see people dashing to put out the fire
I hear the wind blowing
The smell of smoke is gone
I hear sticks cracking like candy canes
I see a doe with her fawn
I keep heading north in late summer
I smell the leaves on the trees
I see birds flying in the sky
The water is getting colder
I see a buck drinking from the river
I feel a bird land on me
I feel the cold breeze
I see the cattails by the river
I smell the sourness of the air
I feel a fish swimming under me
I reach Grand Forks in early fall
I see the leaves changing their color to yellow
I smell the sweet scented apples
I see the corn turning brown
I feel the chilliness of the air that matches the water
I see a black bird with its hatchlings in a tree
I see a black bear looking for its den
I get a whiff of the sweet smell of fresh honey
I feel a sharp object scratch against me
I smell the dewy grass
I reach Winnipeg in late fall
I feel the frigid water under me
I see the leaves falling from the trees
I see a white rabbit trying to find food
I see geese flying south
I hear leaves rustling on the ground
I feel the icy water forming ice chunks on the water
I see flowers withering
I see small snowflakes falling from the sky
I feel IՉm starting to slow down
I hear no birds chirping
I see a train moving by me
I see a mitten floating by me
I feel someone pick me up out of the water
They set me in the water closer to Hudson Bay
I made it to Hudson Bay in late winter
I made it to Hudson Bay
My journey is at an end
I hope you like my journey
From your dearest friend
I am paddle to the sea
