My name is Natasha and this is my story. My story begins as so I was sitting in a cottage as a little girl made me ready for my destiny. Little did I know that I was going on a journey to the Atlantic Ocean and starting on the Tongue River.
Finally it was time for me to go and the girl was sad to leave me but she soon forgot the sadness when she sent me on my way as her dog Waffles licked my wooden boat. I was in a little brook at sundown I got to Akra on the Tongue River and I got to see the beautiful sunset on the horizon.I slowly sank in the warm relieving waves of sleep.
When I wokeI heard the sound of cars and people and I realized that I was in Cavalier. Cottonwood trees lined the river as I floated to my destination. Suddenly I felt a large furry creature next to me.I thought it was a bear and I was ready to scream but actually it was a beaver The beaver looked at me very hard picked me up with its jaws and carried to me to his dam. He packed me in this log thing and I then knew that I was trapped. In the night when the beaver was asleep I made my move to escape. I crossed the tangley branches of an odd looking boxelder tree and I saw what looked like a northern pike. Then I floated to the Pembina River.
I saw the river bank vines on the river bank of course and a piping plover threw cranberries of an American cranberry tree at me SPLATTERING on my wooden boat. The bird took me and carried me to a weird thing which I think was a nest on a log and it started SMASHING me into a rock. Banged up but alive I made my way to a riverbank. Then a school of walleye rushed and carried me to the border of a river. Then I found myself in the Red River.
With my red stain from the berries on my eyes I didnt see the city of Emerson Manitoba. I couldnt see that I got caught in a current bush. As I was struggling to free myselfa friendly fisherman picked me up and handed me to a random kid namedLien a Spanish kid from Winnipeg. And the kid was so happy that he took me to his home. He sailed me in his bathtub and when he saw writing he ran to his mother and she read it aloud and told him to put me back to where he wanted on the river I was on.He didnt do it at first because he was so sad but as soon as his mother said that she would buy him a dog he put me in the end of the Red River and I sailed to a lake called Lake Winnipeg.
Lake Winnipeg is quiet at first but when you are there at night thats when the real parties start. There is no city here but I heard and saw lots of people in this place. I saw a cute river otter following me from the Red River and a few Muskrats too but they went away a while later. Aspen trees lined the shore and fox squirrels were climbing up them. Suddenly a big fox squirrel jumped on my helm and as I watched the waves go over me I caught something shiny in the corner of my eye. It was a diamond watch. The squirrel jumped off realizing that Im not a tree branch. Then it climbed onto an American elm tree. A family of raccoons came wandering over to mecaught on the beach they grabbed the diamond watch and pulled me out of the water and as I waited in anticipation they tossed me back into the water and I floated to a riverthe Nelson River.
The Nelson River a calm place wasnt so calm today.packs of mink slowly made their way to the edge of the river to drink the cold water and to hunt some orange spotted sunfish. Juneberry trees and woodbine vines lined the shore. At night the animals came out of their hiding places searching for foodit was a full moon so the water glittered from the moonlight.
I fell asleep with the song of the water brushing against my canoe. I woke to the sweet birdsong of morning. As I glided through the waterI saw the water rushing down the sound of a waterfall filled my ears and before I could swim to safety I was plummeting downward toward the rocks. I felt a SMASH and a CRACK and I felt pain all over my body. Before I knew it a school of orange spotted sunfish were swimming me to the shoreand a sailboat person picked me up gently and took me to his home for repairs. As I was getting repaired I thought about my journey to the Atlantic Ocean and as soon as I was done being repaired I sailed to Hudson bay.
There is also no city in Hudson Bay but its just as loud. I saw a plant I had never seen in my travelspurple saxifrage. This bay was filled with lichen and I was getting covered in it. Since I am in the Arctic now I am super close to completing my journey. I saw a seal and it swam with me.A few hours later a polar bear came close to my new friend and me The seals name was Loralie. I have never seen a polar bear before so I didnt think it was dangerous. But it was dangerous for me and for my new companion. The polar bear didnt want me but it did want my seal friend. I was absolutely terrified when the polar bear attacked the seal. When the seal came up for airthe polar bear killed and ate the seal and I was alone again.
As I sailed alone I didnt notice at first but I was finally at the end of my journey. The Beluga whales celebrated with me and I saw an Arctic poppy and a bearberry bush. In the distance I saw an Arctic fox eating the remains of a walrus. And Im still somewhere in the Arctic and Atlantic Ocean you just need to look hard to see me next time you go there.
