This is the story of shores of the sea the canoe that went far. She was crafted at the River of Dreams facility for children to send out to the river to the ocean. Many like her were similar. She however was different than the others she had yet to find out she would go farther than the rest. She and her fellow canoes were an inspiration from the book Paddle to the Sea. The story Paddle to the Sea is about a boy in Canada who handmade a canoe called Paddle to the sea. Paddle was released into the river and had many a great adventure and was picked up by many but always thrown back into the water to continue his journey. Shores of the Sea was brought to a school to be colored and sent on her journey soon after. She was ecstatic about having an owner to color and care for her. When she got there she saw so many faces and was excited When it was time for her to be picked nobody picked her and that made Shores sad. A couple of days later the box was opened and a child was standing there looking in. She had ice blue eyes with gold rims blonde hair and a happy smiling face. The girl picked me up with her gentle hands and took me to a table. She looked me over and immediately fell in love with me. Then she started sketching on me it tickled a bit but it was okay. She drew some quotes rivers and trees so Shores still looked natural. It was amazing how Shores had turned into such a beautiful canoe Her beloved owner had made her into a beautiful canoe After a while Shores was gently set to rest in the box again... Woah she started moving and she knew the box was moving she wondered where but she felt she was finally going to start her journey to the sea The box opened again after a few minutes and she saw bright sunlight pour in when the box opened and rough hands grabbed her A man with a bushy beard called out my number and I was handed to my person. She was wearing a red sweatshirt that said UMC on it and a hat otherwise her normal. She took me in her gentle hands and waited for her friends off to the side. 10 minutes later she sat by the riverbank and released me into the open water. I will never forget her my girl but it was my time to leave for my journeyAs I am thrown into the water I think Where am I going to go or What am I going to do. I saw a sign that said Maple River and I thought maple trees grow in the river what will I do if I get caught in one I flow down the river and see two deer drinking from it and they stare at me wondering what I am. Now I enter the Red River and after some time see bright lights. Fargo Moorehead I think so many people live there probably a million A couple of minutes later a car rushes over the bridge and rocks sprayed down on me. One rock drops right in front of me and makes ripples in the dark cool river. Many days later I saw a sign that said Grand Forks East Grand Forks. Bright lights come an hour later and I know we are coming up on a city. After what feels like a month I see a sign that says Canada and I am surprised Have I made it this far already Now I see people in blue coats standing on the bank and one of them sees me and waded out into the water to grab me and he looks over me and starts crying. She shows her fellow police officers and sends me back into the water. I will always wonder why she cried and what happened. I saw fish and one of them tried to eat me. Then Winnipeg came into view and a little girl picked me up and showed her mother who said Put it back Lynette but the child wanted to keep me. Eventually the mother got me away from her and sent me back to the river after carving Winnipeg into my hull. As I continued my journey I saw a fellow canoe. I think its name is Jeffery but I'm not sure. All I can do is stare as he sits in the reeds. I came into a large lake called Lake Winnipeg. I drift on the lake for quite some time and a bird lands on me and it almost pushes me under After a couple of weeks an old man in a boat is fishing sees me rows over to me and grabs me out of the water. He carved Lake Winnipeg into my hull and sent me on my way. A week later I drifted out of the lake and I entered the Nelson River. The Nelson River was quiet almost peaceful a bear was running with its cub on one side and on the other side were deer running in terror I wondered what all the commotion was but then I heard a loud rumble and I saw a blaze eating the forest and animals running for their lives After a couple of days the blaze died out leaving the forest barren and empty. Whoosh I fell off a waterfall The rocks scraped against me as I fell off and I got scrapes on my sides. The water was rough and after some time the water was calm again and I righted myself and I set off again. After two days a lady in a green jacket picked me up and said Well fellow you almost went through a dam Then she picked me up and brought me past the dam and sent me on my way again. A couple of days later I ended up in a big lake called Hudson Bay. After drifting for 8 months I finally made it to the ocean I drifted forever and ever...
