The Adventure of Big Bubbu Ben Beluga
My canoeՉs name is Big Bubbu Ben Beluga. She is known for her big forehead and is ready to meet her ancestors of where she got her famous beluga qualities from. Her ancestors are located in Iceland, which is far, far from where she is now. She begins in Moorhead and continues upstream. While in Moorhead, she sees skunks hiding in the nearby sugar beets that an angry farmer is harvesting. The farmer began chasing the skunks aggressively and thwacking his hoe at them. Big Bubbu was thrown aback by such a scene and decided to pick up the pace and get to the city of Norman out and away from Moorhead.
When she reached the city ofNorman, the sky began to darken early in the day and a thunderstorm started. She could tell under the surface of the water there was chaos. The fish were terrified of the deep cracks of lightning striking the trees close by. Big Bubbu decided to take a look and see which type of fish could be going so crazy. She slightly tilted her side just enough to see a whirl of catfish speeding past and around her in the shallow part of the river. One of the catfish banged into her side and then Bubbu began to go into the riverbank. In the morning Bubbu was awoken by a strange warm licking noise, when she looked up she saw a deer was licking her and then picked her up by the horns. While going on a nice ride, Bubbu saw a woodpecker in a nearby tree come down and land on her. The woodpecker started pecking her and carving into her left side. The deer was troubled by the woodpecker and began to jump around trying to fly off the woodpecker. Instead of the woodpecker coming off, Bubbu came off and flew all the way back into the river.
A couple of days later, Bubbu came to Grand forks. She saw beautiful willow trees. The breeze was becoming a little more chill now and farmers had their crops collected, except for one field she saw. It was a cornfield. She saw some kids running around and chasing each other with costumes that resembled witches, ghosts and disney characters. She saw families carving pumpkins near the farmers home and mazes through the corn fields. One Buzz Lightyear saw her and waddled down the riverbank, with his toes barely touching the water. ՉCome here little boat. I want to see you!Չ The little boy in the Buzz Lightyear costume began to look scared and worried to come into the water and grab Bubbu. The current started to pick up pace and Bubbu was getting further and further away from the boy. He looked one last time at the cornfields and jumped into the river. He flapped his arms frantically, and his costume was holding him down. Bubbu wished she could help but she couldn't do anything except get further and further away from him. He began to sink and cry for help. Other girls heard his cries and ran down to help him, but they couldn't swim. The girls that saw him were dressed in dresses, ՉI can't risk getting my new bell dress wet or else jack won't dance with meՉ one girl said. ՉI will go get Mr. Mister. I think he can swim.Չ One of the girls ran to an old man that was nearby in the corn fields and called him over. His eyebrows rose when the little girl told him the news. He sprinted down to the river. The little boy was almost out of sight. Only his hand was floating. The old man ripped off his shirt, pants and hat, so he only had underwear on. ՉEwww thatՉs an ugly sight,Չ said a girl in an Ariel costume. The farmer swam elegantly and swiftly downstream to the boy. The boy's hand sank under water. Now it was more difficult to find him. The farmer dove under the water and pulled the boy up. The farmer tried his hardest to swim against the current, but the boyՉs costume was holding him back. Bubbu wasn't able to see what happened next because she was too far away. Bubbu crossed Polk and Emerson, nothing much happened other than a few sightings of deer and elk. She reached the border of Canada and saw a beautiful waterfall towering above her. Magnificent sprays of water splashed against her side, as she continued down stream into Winnipeg. Finally, Bubbu reached Winnipeg. She felt relieved that all the difficult streams were over and only slow and steady rivers lay ahead. While Bubbu was sleeping, a woodpecker flew down to her and began pecking at her. To her surprise, the woodpecker seemed to be carving something. The bird kept at it for the next few hours; Creating a masterpiece that resembled a crooked heart. The woodpecker seemed satisfied with what it had made and picked Bubbu up and flew drownsteam. After days of flying, the woodpecker came to Lake Winnipeg and dropped Bubbu in a nest. The beautiful tree the woodpecker dropped her in was an oak tree. An old lady came down from her porch that was next to the oak tree. ՉOh how glamorous,Չ said the old lady. She wobbled down to the foot of the tree and reached her stiff arms up to Bubbu. She grunted, not able to reach her; ՉI need Phillip,Չ she scuffed. ՉPhil, get your lazy self down here this instant!Չ screeched the lady. A wide long haired teenager eating bread came out from the porch ՉWhat mom? Did you fall off the porch again?ՉHe asked while munching on the plain bread. ՉNo you sleepyhead, there is a boat in my oak.Չ Phil heaved himself forward towards the old lady. ՉSo you want this boat to keep?Չ she asked her nicely ՉNo. I want that piece of garbage off my property before I burst your bread out the door into the sewer and bring you with it boy!Չ she scowled once again, pointing her finger at him. Phillip, seeming as though tired from all the old ladyՉs yelling, reached up slightly and grabbed Bubbu. ՉNow off into lake Winnipeg, '' laughed Philip as he tossed Bubbu into Lake Winnipeg. While in Lake Winnipeg, Bubbu felt cold, deep waters below her. She was fairly curious about the mysterious creatures beneath her. She tilted to her right side as far as she could until she flipped upside down. Bubbu saw starfish clinging to the circular rocks sprinkled with moss. She saw a few other fish that she couldn't quite make out. Once she was satisfied with what she saw, she flipped back up and fell asleep. After a few days, Bubbu crossed Nelson River and came to Hudson Bay. She was awoken by a deep and loud vibration coming from underneath the surface. Bubbu was startled and almost flipped over. She was too afraid to look under the water to see what horrible creature could be so treacherous. While in the middle of freaking out, bubbles began to appear in front of her, more and more of them. Then, a Beluga whale arose from the depths and its enormous forehead splashed Bubbu. The Beluga submerged and came up again right under Bubbu. The beluga whale began carrying Bubbu towards Hudson Straight. The Beluga Whale was much faster than Bubbu was. Bubbu and the beluga whale reached Hudson Straight in no time. Out of nowhere, they were shown up by a Narwhal. The narwal striked its tusk at the beluga's forehead. The beluga's forehead deflated and the narwhal took Bubbu and sprinted away, practically hovering over the water. While getting carried by the narwhal Bubbu saw an eagle soar across the sky and into a nearby tree. The narwhal dropped Bubbu off at Labrador Sea, waved, and left. The sky began to darken, teared and sprinkled droplets of water. Bubbu was beginning to get bored so she wanted to see what was going on under the water. She tilted to her left and flipped over under the water. She saw salmon circling around beneath her, a few swam away when they saw that she flipped over. Bubbu flipped back up and fell asleep. In the morning, Bubbu had crossed the southern tip of Greenland and reached Iceland. She saw aged buildings of the early 1700Չs and earlier, steam coming off the mountains and hills. She saw her friend beluga whale with its deflated forehead, welcoming her to join him for the rest of eternity.
