My canoeՉs name is Seabreeze. I have many hopes and dreams for my canoe once it is launched. I hope it will someday reach the Labrador Sea by traveling along the Red River. I hope my canoe will travel along the Red and see the muddy banks of Fargo. I hope it will see the oak and maple trees of Oak GroveՉs park. I hope it will pass Moorhead along the flow of the river while rain pours down. After it passes Moorhead I hope it can see the spring wheat fields that are along the river. As it floats along the Red I hope ducks come and settle on the river next to it and go fishing. After a few weeks I hope it reaches East Grand Forks. After a few more days I hope it passes Polk County, Minnesota as it transitions into the summer. I hope that ravens will swoop above it during the fall, and I hope that carp will swim alongside it in the river. Next I hope it passes Pembina County, North Dakota.
Then I hope it will pass into Canada when fall begins. I hope that when Seabreeze passes the border it sees a moose drinking from the river. I hope that walleye will join it at this point, and lead it into Winnipeg. I hope it sees northern pike as it transitions into Lake Winnipeg right before the lake freezes over. Once the snow melts I hope it gets a big push into the Nelson River with the force of all the water thatՉs flowing. I hope that it sees caribou as it drifts along the Nelson. I hope it sees polar bears and wolves and their pups in the late spring. When it eventually reaches Hudson Bay I hope beluga whales and dolphins will swim with it and play with it. I hope a purple sandpiper lands on it and sails with it as it eventually reaches the Labrador Sea.
