This is the fifth boat our family has found. It's been super fun finding them. I found this one halfway through our trip kayaking the river. I found yours on a pile of logs, and thought that it was a branch, but then I realized it was a boat because of the shape and it had color on it. So I had to go back against the current and grab it off the pile of logs. |

Found half buried in River debris upside down on south side of river. Took it by kayak to the Leonard Road which is 249th and will bring it back there tomorrow to release it from the bridge there. Good luck! |

Found halfway on shore in debris. I was able to spot it due to the bright colors and design; otherwise it would have been there for a very long time!
I carried it by kayak to the bridge at 249th Street where we will release it back into the river. This is the 4th canoe our family has found this week. Good luck on your journey! |

It was found while collecting firewood for a riverside campfire. It was no more than 5 feet from the riverbank and was stepped over for larger pieces several times but eventually discovered. Coolest thing I've found in years and it will continue on its journey today as well. |

I saw it next to a bouncy ball on the river bank of the red River while I was fishing with my dad and cousin. I'm in 8th grade in Moorhead Minnesota. I'm gonna release it back on my next trip out to go fishing on the red River and hopefully your canoe will finish its way up to Winnipeg and into the Hudson bay. it made it to Fargo so its on its way. good luck. |

This evening my sis-in-law died in this beautiful home on the Red Lake River by the Step-Dam in Crookston. As the stormy skies cleared, just hours before her earthly journey's end, I found this canoe.
And now that her spirit has passed, the loving family commits this canoe back to the rythyms of Earth as we commit her body and soul to the rhythms of Heaven. |

It was snagged on some brush, & while I was using my GREEN BAY PACKER colored CLUB FOOT JIG, I snagged it with my jig. Thought it was just a piece of scrap. But felt like a fish, the way I hooked it made the "canoe" flip & flop under water.
Wouldn't you just know it, a Packer fan, using a Packer color jig, snagged and rescued a Viking Canoe!!!!!!!!
3 Sauger's and a "CANOE". Three "Sauger" getting filleted, eaten, & "Canoe" got cleaned and sealed, with boiled inedible linseed oil, {to increase its buoyancy}, and will be relaunched at the same spot I snagged it. Maybe this time it will make it all the way to Hudson Bay, Canada |

I was about 150 yds north of the Riverside Dam in Grand Forks, ND. The river is down low and there is a huge log jam exposed that runs from sure out to about half across the river. Found your canoe hopelessly tangled in the mess. I saved it, snapped a few pics and sent it on it's way up the river. I took a video of me releasing it. After finding this boat in Detroit Lakes and seeing that it wanted to go to the ocean, we knew we had to help it accomplish its dream! After updating its paint job so it does not fade, we are placing it into the Mississippi River in La Crosse, WI from the La Crosse Queen paddle boat. While we will miss this boat, we hope that it will accomplish its dream and that others will help it on its way! |

We found this April 30 we kept it as a good luck charm for the big money tournament on Saturday. We put a little message on the bottom and we hung a jig that is used for fishing on the bottom side. We set it back free around 3 PM May 1st. |

My family and I were kayaking the Maple on Father's day and I saw this wonderful canoe -- I knew what it was as I have students in Riverwatch and teach science-- I was so excited! Thanks for sending this canoe our way, The flooding beached it high in some shrubs on the bank and I saw it just hanging. there. Im sorry your canoe didnt make it all the way to the ocean but we know the river still will, right?-- Just a little farther downstream my husband found one too, he was so jealous of mine it was all he looked for the rest of the trip. His student's basketball number was #37 and apparently this kid likes AC/DC and the Bison. He didnt put his name on the canoe, though, so maybe you can figure out whose it was!

I am Andrew Holm from Hallock MN. I found this canoe in a pile of driftwood on the shoulder of the highway. I am leaving for the Marine Corps in two days and was collecting wood for a fire in my yard for my going away party. I was very happy to find this canoe and I went to my local newspaper right away. I have put your canoe back into the Red River near where I found it. I hope it reaches Hudson Bay. |

We found this canoe in late fall of 2018 on the river bank by our home. We decided to keep it over the winter since there was already ice forming on the Red River. Due to the flooding in the Oslo, MN area this spring, we have not been able to get close enough to the river bank safely to launch it yet. The river is still pretty high and there is quite a bit of mud on the banks. However, we do anticipate that we should be able to launch it in the next week or two. What a great project this is. It was fun to find a treasure on the banks of the Red River. I hope it goes far and receives the best of care! |

Sadly the canoe must not have gone far. The river many years ago was rerouted by a major storm . The state of Minnesota and the DNR rerouted the the river back to its original course . However there is an oxbow in the river and it causes a serious log jam . After the storm of past the river was clogged by a similar log jam in the same spot. The state of Minnesota removed the log jam and redirected it back to its original course. The state government took a decade of wrangling to come up with the funds to do this. When the government functioned well. Unfortunately this is not the case now The log jam is back Full of debris from surrounding camp grounds, the city of Elba and the White Water State Park. The river is choked with decks from trailers or house tires, About fifteen blue 55 gallon drums peoples personal effects and what ever else was swept away during Elba's last flood. Its about a mile off of Minnesota 74 away from passer byes view but it is still there a huge blemish on a State treasure the White water River. I fear the state is incapable of fixing this as it has been neglecting The White Water Management area for some time I found the canoe almost the debris there is probably more canoes in the mess but that's the story of the canoe "The Lady Bird Johnson". |

We found your canoe, Johnny!! It was washed up on shore, and the only reason we saw it was because of its bright red color! Way to go - great thinking! Sam rescued it and set it free in the river, just past Oakland Park. We paddled with it for awhile, and it was well on its way, down the middle of the river, with no signs of slowing down or getting caught. |

Found it after stopping for the day to camp. Hattie made it, and it looks awesome. A little gray from being in the mud along the river bank for a while I would bet, but still can see the trees she put on the ends and all the other cool drawings along the side of it she did. Sealer is gone on the side almost all the way, but the River of Dreams seal is still going strong, with a little water getting under it. Really cool to find it on my canoe trip. |
